Guitar Lessons At Signature Sound

More Than Memorizing Riffs

There is an overwhelming amount of guitar content available on YouTube, Patreon, social media, and beyond. Trying to learn on your own from millions of disconnected videos can be slow, frustrating, and unfocused. Studying guitar with Jacob helps bring clarity and direction, connecting the concepts behind chord progressions, riffs, and solos so you can actually apply them in real musical situations.

Many of Jacob’s students come in with specific goals, such as working through high school jazz band charts, preparing music for cover band gigs, or learning songs for Sunday morning church services.

Because guitar is Jacob’s secondary instrument and much of his playing experience has been in collaborative settings, he offers valuable insight into playing guitar in a band, writing effective guitar parts for productions, and dialing in a strong tone and rhythmic feel. He has also spent years leading worship on guitar at various churches, and is passionate about equipping musicians who want to better serve their congregations through music.

Unlock your creativity on the fretboard

Master the fundamentals of modern guitar playing and find the style that you love most. At Signature Sound, you can study acoustic or electric guitar. Jacob’s teaching style is song-oriented, so you will develop new techniques as they come up in the music you are learning. After years of coaching guitarists, Jacob has bookmarked hundreds of go-to songs that will level up your fingerstyle acoustic playing, rhythm, lead playing, and soloing. Along with studying repertoire, Jacob will help you to understand the fretboard in a deeper way by connecting concepts you learn and identifying them with practical music vocabulary. Some of Jacob’s guitar playing influences include Lindsey Buckingham, Cory Wong, John Mayer, Jason Isbell, B.B. King, Spanky Alford, Lyle Brewer, and Bonnie Raitt. Which players inspire you?

Learn how to write your own songs

As someone who writes his own original music, Jacob loves to work with students who are interested in expanding their songwriting potential. In guitar lessons, you will learn about alternate tunings, chord progressions, harmony, part writing, and melody writing concepts so that your music brings your lyrics to life. Not only has Jacob written and recorded guitar for his original music, he has collaborated with many other artists with their lyrics, song arrangements, and production during his career.
